La statua di Maria Salome fu ultimata nel
1951 ed esposta al pubblico nel prestigioso palazzo Cappelluti,
ora, purtroppo, demolito. Maria Salome fu madre di S. Giovanni
Evangelista: anch'essa come Maria Cleofe, non rivestì un
ruolo particolare che potesse distinguerla dalla massa del
popolo presente alla grande tragedia sul Golgota. Pertanto,
l'artista, Giulio Cozzoli, raffigurò la Salome in
angustiato pianto, ponendole tra le mani il vaso contenente
l'unguento per imbalsamare il corpo di Nostro Signore. Nel
1953, con il consenso unanime espresso in assemblea dai
confratelli presenti, l'Amministrazione del tempo decise
di acquistarla e portarla in processione nella Pasqua dello
stesso anno. Per la prima volta, con questa statua, il giudizio
della popolazione fu concorde, unanime, nel ritenere l'opera
interamente riuscita.

The statue of Mary Salome
was completed in 1951 and exposed to the public in the prestigious
Cappelluti palace, later, unfortunately, dernolished. Maria
Salorne was of St. Giovanni Evangelist's mother: like Mary
Cleofe, she did not have a particular role that could distinguish
her from the mass of the people present to the great tragedy
on Golgota. Therefore, Giulio Cozzoli, the artist, represented
afflicted Salome while crying, and he put in her hands the
vase containing the ointment to embalm the body of Our Lord.
In 1953, with the expressed unanimous consent in assembly
of the present brothers, the Administration of that time decided
to buy and carry it in procession at Easter in the same year.
For the first time, with this statue, the judgement of the
population agreed unanimously to think the work was really
well built.
