La statua di Gesų nell'orto non č coeva alle
altre; diversa dunque nello stile e di pių recente realizzazione,
in quanto la prima statua di Gesų nell'orto ebbe a soffrire,
pių delle altre, l'insidia del tarlo. L'Amministrazione
del tempo, ritenendo non decoroso portare in processione
il simulacro, ritenne opportuno affidare l'incarico, per
la realizzazione della nuova statua, raffigurante Gesų nell'orto
del Getsemani, all'artista napoletano D. Gaetano La Rocca.
L'artista plasmò il simulacro prendendo a modello
la vecchia statua consistente, come l'attuale, nel Cristo
genuflesso e l'Angelo con il calice, posto tra le fronde
di un albero d'ulivo. Nel 1859 la nuova immagine venne portata
per la prima volta in processione, riscuotendo unanime consenso
dalla popolazione.

The statue of Jesus in the garden is not
coeval to the others; different, therefore, in the style
and of more recent realization, because the first statue
of Jesus in the garden had to suffer, more than the others,
the snare of the woodworm. The Administration of that time,
thinking not decorous to carry in procession the simulacrum,
thought better to entrust the assignment, for the making
of the new statue, representing Jesus in the garden of Getsemani,
to Neapolitan artist D. Gaetano La Rocca. The artist mould
on simulacrum taking to model the old statue consisting,
as the present one, in Christ genuflected and the Angel
with a goblet, placed among the foliage of an olive tree.
In 1859, the new image was carried for the first time in
procession, obtaining people's unanimous consent.
