La statua di Gesų Morto č, senza dubbio, quella
che pių di ogni altra suscita somma devozione e fanatismo
nell'animo dei fedeli. L'immagine riesce a suscitare commozione,
per l'austera compostezza e la soavità dei lineamenti
del volto, non disgiunti da altri particolari come le minuscole
ferite, inferte al venerando capo dalla corona di spine, ed
i capelli intrisi di sudore e sangue che aderiscono al guanciale.
In processione, il simulacro si presenta solenne, elegante,
mistificato con lussuosità da una coltre, dall'intenso
colore azzurro e intessuta da pregevoli ricami in oro, dalle
raffinate lumiere argentee e dall'artistico reliquiario della
S. Croce in argento, realizzato su disegno dello scultore
molfettese Giulio Cozzoli. Una venustà che non stanca
mai di appagare l'amore del popolo molfettese.

Dead Jesus's statue is, without
doubt, the one that more than any other arouses great devoteness
and fanaticism in the mind of the believers. The image can provoke
commotion, for the austere composure and the gentleness of the
face features, and considering also other particulars like the
small injures, inflicted to the venerable head by the crown
of thorns, and the hair soaked in sweat and blood that are joined
to the pillow. In procession, the simulacrurn looks solemn,
elegant, taken in luxury by a blanket, by the intense blue colour
and interwoven with precious embroideries in gold, by the refined
silver lights and by the artistic reliquary of the St. Cross
in silver, made according to a design of the sculptor from Molfetta
Giulio Cozzoli. A beauty that never tires to satisfy the love
of the people from Molfetta. |
